CROS handles Companies Registry filings. The Inland Revenue Division has separate registration requirements, and certain company file-number, PAYE and VAT online routes depend on TTConnect and TTBizLink access.
CROS belongs to the Companies Registry
The Companies Registry Online System (CROS) provides access to name reservation, business-name registration, company incorporation and other Registry filings. A Companies Registry Account (CRA) is used to access CROS.
Getting your company incorporated establishes its corporate status. It does not mean that every tax-administration account, employer account or operating licence is already in place. These processes are administered separately.
BIR and PAYE are tax-administration matters
The Inland Revenue Division identifies individual BIR file numbers, company file numbers, PAYE numbers and VAT registrations as distinct administrative records. A company file number helps identify the company for tax matters. PAYE concerns the employer's process for withholding tax from employees' emolument income.
VAT registration is another distinct question based on the rules applying to the taxable activity and threshold. Do not use one account number as proof that all of these requirements have been completed.
Why TTConnect and TTBizLink may be required
The IRD's published BIR-number guidance says that online company file-number, PAYE and VAT registrations are available to persons already registered for TTBizLink through TTConnect, using their TTConnect username and password.
Accordingly, a user who can access CROS should not assume those credentials also provide access to the separate tax-registration service. Confirm the current identity, authorisation and account prerequisites before starting the next application.
Prepare the right set of records
Keep the exact company name and incorporation particulars, the addresses used in official records and the identification information for directors or authorised representatives close at hand. Ask IRD which form and documentary evidence apply to your particular tax-registration request.
A consultant can help organise information, but never share government-system passwords or sensitive identity records without verifying the agreed process and the person's authority to handle them.
Practical order of operations
First confirm that the company's Registry formation has been completed. Next check the applicable tax file number. Before employing staff, confirm PAYE and NIS employer requirements. If the business makes taxable supplies, assess whether VAT registration is required under current rules.
BizReg Consulting provides independent administrative assistance with business registration and BIR/PAYE preparation. Its professional service charges are separate from applicable government fees. Always follow current authority guidance for the precise application.
Questions business owners ask
Can I log into TTBizLink using my CRA credentials?
CRA/CROS and the TTConnect/TTBizLink arrangements are separate systems. Confirm the correct login and access route from the respective government authority.
Does incorporation create a PAYE registration?
No. Incorporation and PAYE are different processes, and employer obligations depend on the relevant circumstances.
