Which registration option fits your plans?

A sole trader registers a business name for an individual. A company has its own incorporation process, ownership decisions and continuing filing responsibilities. Discuss liability, ownership, tax treatment and investment plans with the appropriate adviser before committing to a structure.

What do I need to prepare?

Start with the intended activity, people involved, CRA access and proposed name. For a company, resolve the first shareholders or members, beneficial owners, ownership arrangements and the approvals each participant must provide. Follow the Registry's current instructions for the relevant account and filing role.
