Company incorporation and taxpayer registration are different processes administered by different public bodies.
CROS handles Registry matters
The Companies Registry uses its online system for name reservation, business-name registration, incorporation and post-incorporation filings. Those services deal with the legal registration record.
Keep the final incorporation or registration documents, name, filing numbers and related details accessible. They are useful when completing other processes, but they do not replace the tax registrations.
The BIR file number has a tax function
IRD describes BIR numbers as identifiers for tax-law administration. It lists individual income tax, company-file, PAYE and VAT categories. Which number you need depends on the business and its circumstances.
Do not enter a CROS account PIN as though it were a BIR file number, and do not label a company incorporation certificate as evidence that PAYE registration is already complete.
TTBizLink and TTConnect have a particular role
IRD states that online applications for company file numbers, PAYE and VAT registration are available for those already registered with TTBizLink through TTConnect. The exact access process should be confirmed from the current official service.
The fact that two websites belong to government does not mean they share the same login. Check the appropriate account and authorisation requirements before submitting personal or company information.
Individual applications may follow a different online route
The IRD guidance identifies e-TAX access for individual BIR applications. An entrepreneur should not assume that the company's path is identical to the sole trader's personal tax-file process.
Clarify whether the relevant taxpayer is an individual, a company or another entity. That answer affects which application and supporting records are appropriate.
Build a simple hand-off checklist
Start with completed Registry documents, check the relevant taxpayer and payroll needs, verify system access and gather the current IRD documentation. Record which tasks are still pending.
BizReg Consulting offers BIR and PAYE administrative assistance where suitable. Official approvals and any tax responsibilities remain with the Inland Revenue Division and the taxpayer.
Questions business owners ask
Can I log into TTBizLink using my CROS account?
Do not assume that is possible; follow the current TTBizLink/TTConnect requirements.
Does incorporation automatically issue a BIR number?
No. Tax registration needs to be checked separately.
Is every business automatically VAT registered?
No. VAT has its own application and applicable statutory tests.
