The Companies Registry states that every person engaged in forming a profit company, including directors, incorporators and an attorney-at-law involved in formation, must have a CRA.
One company application can involve several individuals
The Companies Registry Online System (CROS) provides the online route for company incorporation. Access begins with an individual Companies Registry Account (CRA). It is not safe to assume that an account held by one participant covers the people who must act in the formation of the company.
The Registry's official incorporation instructions expressly identify directors, incorporators and attorneys-at-law engaged in formation among those who must have a CRA. Which specific roles are relevant depends on the company and the persons actually involved.
Collect participant information before applying
Prepare the proposed director and incorporator names exactly as shown on the identification documents used for their CRA records. Confirm current contact information and the correspondence address each participant will use.
The Registry's CRA instructions describe an individual account application requiring personal particulars, contact and address details, a birth certificate, two forms of photo identification and a headshot with a submitted ID. Check the live directions for accepted identity documents and the current submission process before uploading files.
CRA access and company roles are not interchangeable
A CRA is the access credential through which an individual uses Registry services. Being able to log into CROS is not, on its own, proof of appointment as a director, ownership of shares or the right to make every corporate filing.
Keep the proposed company's role list separate: who is incorporating, who will serve as a director, how shares will be held, who will be responsible for required company records, and whether professional representation is involved. Accurate roles reduce avoidable queries and incorrect assumptions.
Do not hand over private credentials casually
Each participant should treat their Registry login information and identity documents as sensitive. Ask what information an administrative consultant needs for the agreed task and use the Registry's authorised process instead of disclosing passwords for convenience.
When participants are in different places, give adequate time for account setup, identity verification and any confirmations required by the current service. The timing of a company application depends on all required steps, not merely a name reservation.
An efficient pre-incorporation checklist
Before submitting the company application, confirm the proposed name and the participating individuals; verify which participants have usable CRA access; reconcile exact names and identification details; decide on the registered office; and assemble ownership and corporate-structure information.
BizReg Consulting can provide independent assistance preparing the administrative details and CRA steps. A government decision on a filing remains with the Registry, and no private service can guarantee approval.
Questions business owners ask
Does the company itself use the same CRA as its director?
A CRA is an individual account for accessing Registry services. Confirm the appropriate role and association when completing the relevant company filing.
Can one director's CRA complete every other participant's requirements?
Do not assume so. Check the Companies Registry's current incorporation directions for each person engaged in company formation.
